Silence is lifted
'I had been looking for a silent retreat experience for some weeks when the Hellens Retreat simply popped into my inbox.

It is so rare that we get the opportunity to spend an extended time in silence, supported by others - with the chance to reflect and to take a break from our regular lives.

I found the experience to be very nurturing, replenishing and energising. I thoroughly enjoyed the Saturday evening talk which was marked a change in tone from the meditations.

The location is very special - with acres of ancient woodland, forest, formal gardens, a herbal garden, a maze and inscribed standing stones. There was always something new to discover on the walking meditations.

Our hosts Kathryn and Claire guided us calmly and professionally through the whole experience and were always on hand if we needed them in between meditation sessions.

For me, it was time to reflect, stand back and gain strength . I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it .'

'I really enjoyed meditation for 40 mins at a time. Alternating between walking and sitting meant you did not lose concentration. Just having the peace was wonderful.'

Some thoughts from the participants of the last retreat

Our weekend retreat is back again for the second year in the gorgeous surroundings of Hellens Manor. All accommodation is in single rooms with shared bathroom facilities with three double en suite rooms also available. The accommodation is in the tastefully furnished Georgian Stables with meditations taking place in The Great Barn.

You will have exclusive access to the grounds of Hellens with its formal and informal gardens, ponds, sculptures and park land: a delight at every turn. In the afternoon on Saturday you will have time to explore Halls Wood, only 20 minute walk from Hellens. This is ancient woodland that used to provide the Manor with much needed timber and is a riot of colour during the autumn months.

This is a wonderful opportunity to really deepen your practice and immerse yourself in  the nurturing experience of silence and reflection with like hearted souls.
It's a fantastic treat for yourself.

If you have meditated before, then this is for you.
An opportunity to sit with like-hearted people and meditate for a sustained period.
Afterwards there will be tea and cake and a gentle exploration of some aspect of Buddhist teaching, associated with the practice of meditation and what it means for us in our everyday lives.
This is an invitation to go deeper than a normal class allows and to really explore the space that opens up for us when the mind is truly observed and met with kindness, compassion and understanding.
If this sounds perfect for you, please contact me to book your place.
Spaces are limited to facilitate a warm and inclusive opportunity to explore and share without judgement.
